Chestnut Hill Galley Kitchen Remodel
Location: Chestnut Hill, Philadelphia
Building type: Twin
Renovation style: Transitional
This Chestnut Hill kitchen remodel was for a family with two young daughters and a work-at-home parent. The original layout consisted of three disconnected rooms and a one-story addition that entirely blocked the connection to their beautiful rear patio. This presented us with some unique design opportunities. Our clients wanted to unify the family space, update their kitchen, and create a better line of sight across the 1st floor. To accomplish this, we relocated the laundry to the 3rd floor and provided a new powder room adjacent to the stairwell. We then removed the load-bearing wall and installed a steel beam to open the 1st floor rear shed to the kitchen. The remodeled kitchen included new appliances, quartz countertops, ceramic tiled backsplash, a stainless steel under-mount sink, and custom open “live edge” shelving. This new design maximized the natural light in the updated family space.
