Location: South Philadelphia
Building Type: 3-Story Rowhome
The rear addition of this three-story rowhome was near collapse due to poor engineering. We demolished the existing structure, poured a new foundation, and rebuilt the addition on a larger footprint. At the 1st floor kitchen, we installed a central peninsula, adjacent to shallow-depth glass-front cabinets, and a full-lite glass patio door. The kitchen design felt open despite its limited space. Above the kitchen, we created a new 2nd floor bedroom, a 3rd floor study with full bathroom, and walk-out roof deck. The clients wanted the addition to transition smoothly with the rest of the home, so we were meticulous with the framing as we built upwards.
